I dont exactly like the google definition of prayer because it is so watered down. The Bible however gives us examples of how people prayed. From Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Hannah, right down to David, we see that it was a way of communicating with God.
We see with Jesus that prayer has the power to turn situations for the better as long as we pray in line with God’s will (when He fed 5000 men with 5 loaves and 2 fishes)
So now, we know that we must pray intentionally and strategically so that we do not fall under the group that feels as if God is not answering our prayers.
He works everything together for our good. Therefore, even if you decide to pray for a million and claim Jeremiah 29:11, that million will not come if you not ready for it.
If you’re still struggling to steward over the little you have, He won’t release the million because it’ll only make situations worse for you. You not ready. Don’t believe me? ask the children of Israel… they spent 40 years in the desert when it was suppose to be an 11 day journey… And they all didn’t make it (besides Josh and Caleb)
Before claiming Jeremiah 29:11, you need to know the back story, you need to understand exactly what you are claiming.
The story behind Jeremiah 29:11 is that the children of Israel were going through the most at that point because they had sinned against God. He gives them this promise to let them know that He is not here to harm them. He is letting them know that after victoriously coming out of trial (after passing the test) they have a promise waiting for them.
It is like when He told them that they would own the land of milk and honey… to get to that land, they had to go through the desert… You can’t get the land of honey without going through the desert, likewise, you can’t claim Jeremiah 29:11 if you not ready to go through the trial period.
Claiming that verse means you are willing and ready for all the trials coming and you trust that God will see you through and that He has a promise waiting for you.
You can’t claim it one morning and still complain day and night about suffering or claim it then proceed to go rob a bank – worse yet, use it as an excuse to rob the bank.
In Hebrews 12: 2 we are told that Jesus, for the joy set before Him, He endured the cross. To get to the joy, He knew He had to go through the Cross.
You can’t claim the victory while ignoring the sacrifice. It’s a package. Take one take all. You have to be willing and ready to go through the pruning.
Make your prayers and requests in line with God’s will. When praying the Bible verses, when praying the Word, make sure not to manipulate it to agree with your will.
