Praying The Word

I dont exactly like the google definition of prayer because it is so watered down. The Bible however gives us examples of how people prayed. From Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Hannah, right down to David, we see that it was a way of communicating with God.

We see with Jesus that prayer has the power to turn situations for the better as long as we pray in line with God’s will (when He fed 5000 men with 5 loaves and 2 fishes)

So now, we know that we must pray intentionally and strategically so that we do not fall under the group that feels as if God is not answering our prayers.

He works everything together for our good. Therefore, even if you decide to pray for a million and claim Jeremiah 29:11, that million will not come if you not ready for it.
If you’re still struggling to steward over the little you have, He won’t release the million because it’ll only make situations worse for you. You not ready. Don’t believe me? ask the children of Israel… they spent 40 years in the desert when it was suppose to be an 11 day journey… And they all didn’t make it (besides Josh and Caleb)

Before claiming Jeremiah 29:11, you need to know the back story, you need to understand exactly what you are claiming.
The story behind Jeremiah 29:11 is that the children of Israel were going through the most at that point because they had sinned against God. He gives them this promise to let them know that He is not here to harm them. He is letting them know that after victoriously coming out of trial (after passing the test) they have a promise waiting for them.

It is like when He told them that they would own the land of milk and honey… to get to that land, they had to go through the desert… You can’t get the land of honey without going through the desert, likewise, you can’t claim Jeremiah 29:11 if you not ready to go through the trial period.

Claiming that verse means you are willing and ready for all the trials coming and you trust that God will see you through and that He has a promise waiting for you.

You can’t claim it one morning and still complain day and night about suffering or claim it then proceed to go rob a bank – worse yet, use it as an excuse to rob the bank.

In Hebrews 12: 2 we are told that Jesus, for the joy set before Him, He endured the cross. To get to the joy, He knew He had to go through the Cross.

You can’t claim the victory while ignoring the sacrifice. It’s a package. Take one take all. You have to be willing and ready to go through the pruning.

Make your prayers and requests in line with God’s will. When praying the Bible verses, when praying the Word, make sure not to manipulate it to agree with your will.

Am I Praying Intentionally

The enemy is not omnipresent – he cant be everywhere at the same time, so what he cannot destroy, he distracts.

He’ll even get you busy with “prayer”… you’ll think you praying but in reality, you’re actually wasting your time.

Don’t believe me? ASK ME HOW

1)When your prayer starts and ends with “I”… A prayer so full of self exaltation…

2) Matthew 6:7 And when you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words_ (NIV) other translations use the words “vain repetition”…
infact the entire matthew 6 is a whole teaching on its own on HOW to pray

3) When you have a whole 9 day prayer asking God to be your magician and grant you a wish instead of praying for His will to manifest in the situation or better yet, asking Him to help you accept His will.

We on Consistent Fervent Prayer today

Fervent is defined as having or displaying a passionate intensity. We tend to be fervent in our music, talents, hobbies… everything but prayer. We throw in a simple “thank You Lord” when we see fit and move on with our day.

2 Corinthians 10:4 tells us that the weapons of our warfare are not carnal. Throwing prayers in the air for the sake of ticking the “prayer” box is not exactly war fare. It’s like walking into a sword fight and just swinging the sword for the sake of it.

Don’t get me wrong… it is a very powerful prayer when said intentionally… but are you being intentional about it?

the notion use of the word “weapons” indicates that there is a fight and weapons are needed… further we are told that it’s not carnal (worldy) weapons that will get us through this fight but the weapons of God…

How else can one know the weapons of God besides through prayer… Just like you wouldn’t randomly swing your sword in a fight, don’t randomly throw prayers around.
some of you are not even aware that you are in the middle of a war. Stop being so passive about this. Put down your sword, your guitar, your gym equipment, your drugs, your phone… take your Bible and get down on your knees.

The enemy knows spiritual warfare – this is where the church has failed us, they teach us how to live holy but they don’t teach us spiritual warfare…

Notice, the muslim don’t joke with his prayers. the sangoma knows what to say and when to say it to his ancestors.. hell, even the magician knows exactly what spell to say to have his wish granted… but noooo, we christians are here struggling to get through a chapter in the Bible and tremble when asked to pray.

You need to take off your gloves and strategically enter the ring.

Ephesians 6:11 Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.
Ephesians 6:12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms._ (NIV)
